The aviation industry urgently needs new impulse generators! Volocopter is one such aviation pioneer. The company is developing electric urban air taxi services, including a complete urban air ecosystem with take-off and landing infrastructure and heavy lift-drones for various industries.

In 2011, Volocopter was the first ever to let a piloted and purely electrically operated vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft fly. Five years later the company was granted a permit to fly piloted by German authorities, and in 2017, Volocopter celebrated its world premiere in Dubai where a Volocopter took off for a first autonomous flight over Dubai’s skyline. As part of the European SESAR Joint Undertaking Project, a Volocopter air taxi flew fully integrated into air traffic at Helsinki International Airport in 2019. In the same year, Volocopter had their first manned flight over Singapore’s city and showcased its first VoloPort infrastructure prototype.

As you can see, Volocopter has already done great pioneering work for aviation and set milestones for the industry. Its test flights with a purely electric propulsion system are helping to radically change civil aviation operations and drive forward emission-free mobility.

Many studies, such as those by Horváth & Partners (2019) and Roland Berger (2018), predict that the first air taxis will be in operation as early as 2025, meaning that Volocopter’s vision could soon become reality. The competition and race for airspace in large cities have begun.

Volocopter is well aware that the company can only stay ahead in this fiercely competitive environment if it maintains its pioneering spirit in terms of engineering services and innovative strength. Furthermore, Volocopter’s pioneering spirit must be deep-seated in every single employee’s mindset and part of the company culture especially as the company grows.

This is why DONE! has committed to work together with Volocopter. The DONE! team will not only support recruiting top talents for this fast growing company but will also continue to develop Volocopter’s company culture. A healthy corporate culture greatly influences employee satisfaction and thus the success of a company. It is the key for economic growth, says our Managing Director Cornelia Hoppe, and interim lead for the People & Organization team at Volocopter. A good, flourishing company culture helps create greater self-motivation, creativity and innovation. The team will think outside the box, tackle things proactively, ask critical questions, and ultimately, be an active part of the company’s development.

One priority is to push diversity within the company as an important cornerstone of modern corporate culture. 40 percent of the more than 150 employees already come from abroad and ensure a culturally diverse, international atmosphere – even in the small town of Bruchsal where the headquarter is located. Volocopter will become a truly international company as it successfully expands globally and continues to staff offices in cities like Singapore.

Together with the Volocopter management, DONE! will also support gender diversity. Women bring unique perspectives and valuable opinions to the teams. They think and approach projects differently than men would carry out the same jobs. These differences will lead to questions, discussions and more brainstorming within the teams that will ultimately contribute to their successes. An excellent performing team needs diversity, not only in gender, but also in working style, soft skills and nationalities. I am excited about every creative ‘out-of-the-box’ thinker who applies at Volocopter, says Cornelia.

The big advantage of Volocopter is the company’s start-up character in comparison to traditional aviation companies. Volocopter has flat structures and hierarchies, and small, flexible and family-like teams. Volocopter plans to sharpen this existing modern culture and foster collaboration and inclusion. Inclusion creates added value, ensures more understanding and solidarity, and promotes human interaction. In addition, the DONE!-team wants to establish a culture of constructive criticism. Because without mistakes, there is no learning. Without learning, there is no progress. Those who have never failed, have never tried something new, says Cornelia.

If you start working for Volocopter, you will be part of a new and exciting aviation era. Furthermore, you will work together with an excellent team with a pioneering spirit and in a new work environment that provides you space for personal development. For more information visit
