In 2011, Volocopter was the first ever to let a piloted and purely electrically operated vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft fly. In the same year, Volocopter had their first manned flight over Singapore’s city and showcased its first VoloPort infrastructure prototype.

As you can see, Volocopter has already done great pioneering work for aviation and set milestones for the industry. Its test flights with a purely electric propulsion system are helping to radically change civil aviation operations and drive forward emission-free mobility.

Many studies, such as those by Horváth & Partners (2019) and Roland Berger (2018), predict that the first air taxis will be in operation as early as 2025, meaning that Volocopter’s vision could soon become reality. The competition and race for airspace in large cities have begun.
